Parent Teacher Conferences- October 10th

On Monday, October 10th, ALRM will have teacher conferences. Teacher Robyn will begin with a description of the areas of the classroom and discuss the significance of them. Next, she will discuss what the class has studied before moving onto your child's individual progress. Finally, she will welcome any questions or comments regarding your child.

Please sign up for a conference at the front hall of the school.  If you are unable to attend on the date and time provided, Robyn will be available for a conference at another time at your convenience. In the event that you are unable to use the time slot you signed up for, please call the school at 217-0035 to allow your spot to be used by another family.

Miss Mary will be displaying a table of instruments for sale for those of you interested in bringing more music into your home. Also, if you are in need of daycare for the day, please let Teacher Robyn know so that she can have the downstairs classroom fully staffed.

greater than and less than | Montessori Kindergarten

The Kindergartners were hard at work on Monday afternoon. After settling into some time with their workbooks, the girls reviewed "greater than" and "less than." The alligator always eats (<) the bigger number...

Mudras

Last week in yoga, we learned about "mudras." Mudras are symbolic gesture made with the hands in yoga. These hand movements stimulate the same parts of the brain as language. Some of the mudras we learned: namaste, lotus, bird, wisdom, and protection.

Ask your child....
what is a mudra?
can you teach me a mudra?

Maybe you can even invent some mudras together!

Namaste,
Miss Jen

the littles | New Hampton daycare center

The downstairs just might be the place to be. The older kids gather there first thing in the morning, greeting the babies and reminiscing about toys from yesteryear. They often end the day there as well, reading books and listening to soft music. In between, these littles do their thing, guided and loved by Teacher Lisa, Miss Jess and Miss Audrey. Here are just a few from today:

Music Together!

Dear parents,

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year! I am pleased that we have been able to renew our agreement with Music Together and that Miss Mary will be with us on two mornings to ensure that 2 and 3 day a week children, both upstairs and downstairs, get to participate. Our contract requires the participation of all enrolled children. Music Together is developed at the Center for Music for Young Children in Princeton, NJ and has complemented preschool curriculum since the 1980s. This program is present in Montessori schools throughout the US, and we are very excited to have it here, in New Hampton. Feel free to check out the website to understand more about this program and how it enhances all learning.

The music fee for the school year is $175 per child and pays for all the materials and 30 weeks of participation. Payment should be made directly to "A Lakes Region Montessori" and is due on September 15th. Families needing an extension, please see me to work out an alternative. Last year, payments were made directly to Miss Mary, and, in that process, there were families who did not pay the fee. If you fall into this category, please make payment to ALRM with your September tuition.

We hope you will revel in the joy of family music!

Thank you!
Teacher Robyn
